RAMALLAH, Friday, September 04, 2020 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas issued today a decree-law declaring the state of emergency in the State of Palestine for an additional 30 days.
The decree comes in the context of the nationwide measures to keep the COVID-19 outbreak under control, with at least 190 people reported dead from coronavirus across the country since the outbreak of the pandemic in early March.
Meanwhile, the President issued a decree-law enacting harsher punishment for those found guilty of assaulting public officials, especially judges, public prosecutors, members of the judicial police, and security personnel.
President Abbas also issued a decree-law harshening the punishment for certain crimes set forth in the Law on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.
