RAMALLAH, August 8, 2012 (WAFA) – Presidency spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh Wednesday slammed statements made by the Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Liberman, against President Mahmoud Abbas and warned of the serious implications of such statements.
Liberman, in a meeting with the Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr, said there will be neither diplomatic progress nor an accord with the Palestinians as long as Abbas remains in power.
Abu Rudeineh said Liberman’s statements are similar to the ones made by former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, in which he openly called to kill the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
“Liberman’s statements reveal a mentality interested in killing the peace process and fueling conflict and wars,” said Abu Rudeineh.
He held the Israeli government responsible for the statements that are against the diplomatic norms and called it to resume negotiations based on the two-state solution within 1967 borders.
