RAMALLAH, August 7, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian dailies Tuesday highlighted the attack on an Egyptian border security checkpoint that left 16 soldiers dead.
Al-Quds daily front page story reported on an official and factional Palestinian condemnation of the attack at the checkpoint.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayyat al-Jadida quoted Egyptian army saying that assailants from Gaza participated in the attack against the Egyptian soldiers and promised to avenge the victims.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida printed a photo of the closed Rafah crossing. Meanwhile, al-Ayyam printed a photo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Ehud Barak at the location of the bombed armored near Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing.
The three dailies reported on Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab defecting from the government and joining the “revolution”.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida featured Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney criticizing US President Barak Obama for not recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
