RAMALLAH, September 30, 2010 (WAFA)- Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) reported Thursday that the Construction Cost Index (CCI) Increased by 0.29%, Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) increased by 0.28%, Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) Increased by 0.24%, and Road Cost Index (RCI) Increased by 0.19% in the West Bank (West Bank: Excluding those parts of Jerusalem which were annexed by Israel in 1967) in August 2010 Compared with July 2010.
PCBS said in a press release that the overall Construction Cost Index (CCI) reached 109.62 in August 2010 in the West Bank* with an increase of 0.29% compared with July 2010 (base month December 2007=100), the overall Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) reached 103.33 in August 2010 with an increase of 0.28% compared with July 2010 (base month January 2010=100), the overall Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) reached 102.76 in August 2010 with an increase of 0.24% compared with July 2010 (base month January 2010=100), and the overall Road Cost Index (RCI) reached 107.71 in August 2010 with an increase of 0.19% compared with July 2010 (base month December 2008=100).
Analysis of Construction Cost developments for August indicates changes in the costs of the following major construction inputs compared with the previous month: Iron and steel + 1.80%; Cement, lime & gypsum + 0.34%; Tiles and panels from ceramic + 0.29%; Cutting and shaping stones + 0.21%; Quarries and quarrying products + 0.19%; and Cement products - 0.12%.
Analysis of Water Networks Cost Index developments for August indicates changes in the cost of the following major water networks inputs compared with the previous month: Water Reservoirs + 0.64%; Iron + 1.98%; Excavation + 0.60%; Construction work and paint - 0.21%; and Concrete - 0.16%; Water Networks + 0.11%; Excavations + 0.60%; Deface materials + 0.19%; Asphalt, bitumen mixture and its products - 0.46%; and Plastic and steel pipes - 0.20%.
Analysis of Sewage Networks Cost Index developments for August indicates changes in the cost of the following major sewage networks inputs compared with the previous month: Excavations + 0.60%; Plastic and cement pipes + 0.49%; Deface materials + 0.19%; Asphalt, bitumen mixture and its products - 0.46%; and Fountains - 0.45%.
Analysis of Road Cost developments for August indicates changes in the cost of the following major road inputs compared with the previous month: Iron and steel + 1.96%; Quarries and quarrying products + 0.37%; Cement+ 0.34%; Asphalt and bitumen mixture and its products - 0.47%; Cement products - 0.04%.
PCBS said data of Gaza Strip is not available, due to the closure of PCBS’ offices in Gaza Strip since 15/04/2008.
The difference in the percent change in major groups of Road, Construction, water networks, and sewage networks Cost Index is due to the nature compositions of these major groups.
