JERICHO, January 5,2010 (WAFA)- Acting Head of EUPOL COPPS, Ari Sarjanen, met today with Tony Blair in the context of a visit of the Quartet Representative to the Palestinian Jericho Police Training School (JPTS). The visit was organized and presided over by the Palestinian Chief of Police, Major General Hazem Atallah.

Included in his remarks to Mr Blair, Major General Atallah, spoke of the great working relationship enjoyed between the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) and EUPOL COPPS.

Mr. Sarjanen said: “EUPOL COPPS is at the forefront of coordinating international efforts to promote security and justice to the Palestinians - in the context of the Road Map – and support the creation of a future Palestinian State . The ongoing development of the training curriculum is as important as the new infrastructure currently under construction. Training a professional police force to the best international standards is a priority for the PA, the security of the future State and the region.”
