TUBAS, April 22, 2026 (WAFA) – Governor of Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley, Ahmad Al-Asaad, on Wednesday briefed a diplomatic delegation from European embassies and consulates, along with representatives of international institutions, on Israeli occupation violations in Tubas governorate and the Northern Jordan Valley.
The delegation, which held an official meeting at the governorate headquarters, was received by Advisor to the Vice President of the State of Palestine for Community Dialogue and National Communication, Yasser Abu Bakr, Tubas Area Commander Ibrahim Abu Kishk, Secretary of Fatah movement in Tubas, Mahmoud Sawafteh, Chairman of Tubas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Thaer Sawafteh, as well as several local officials and representatives of relevant institutions.
The Governor of Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley reviewed the general situation in the governorate and the challenges imposed by the occupation, particularly in agricultural and pastoral areas. He highlighted systematic restrictions, including land seizure, demolition of structures, and the prevention of farmers from accessing their lands and water resources.
He noted that the Northern Jordan Valley is considered an important food basket, yet faces ongoing policies targeting both land and people through land seizure, restrictions on farmers, demolition of facilities, and deprivation of residents of their basic rights to access water sources and cultivate their lands.
Al-Asaad stressed that what is taking place in Atouf and Ras al-Ahmar areas, southeast of the governorate, is a clear example of these violations, as the occupation seeks to undermine the foundations of life and resilience and force residents to leave their land.
He added that despite these circumstances, Palestinians remain committed to their land and continue to work and produce, but are in urgent need of support, whether by conveying the reality to international communities or by enhancing resilience and development projects in these areas.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Badr Hawamdeh said that the recent leveling of agricultural lands by the occupation, particularly for the construction of a colonial road, has caused significant destruction and losses to the agricultural sector in the area.
He added that the visit serves as a call for political support to enhance the resilience of residents in the governorate.
Participants stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to uphold responsibilities in protecting civilians and supporting farmers’ resilience, emphasizing the need to convey the situation on the ground to the international community.
During a field tour in Atouf and Ras al-Ahmar, the delegation observed the scale of violations carried out by occupation forces, including the leveling and seizure of agricultural lands.
Delegation members also heard firsthand testimonies from affected residents, who described their daily suffering as a result of these policies, calling for urgent international intervention to halt the violations and ensure their basic rights.
