Solana to Attend Annapolis Conference
BRUSSELS, November 24, 2007 (WAFA) - EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, will visit the United States from Monday to participate in the Annapolis Conference on the Middle East and for talks with US and UN officials.
On Monday, Solana will participate in the Quartet Principals Meeting and attend the dinner hosted by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to a statement issued by his office Saturday.
On Tuesday the EU foreign policy chief will travel to Annapolis for the international conference on the Middle East convened by US President George Bush.
"Recent developments have created a sense of cautious optimism for progress towards resolution of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict," noted the statement.
"The EU calls on all other interested parties to support the current process, bearing in mind the high cost of failure for everyone involved," it said.
