President Abbas to Arab FMs: No Palestinian-Israeli Document Reached Ahead Annapolis
CAIRO, November 24, 2007 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas said the Palestinians and the Israelis have not reached a joint statement to be presented at next week's U.S.-sponsored Middle East peace conference.
Speaking to a meeting of Arab League foreign ministers on Friday, President Abbas said he has met with the Israeli Prime Minister for eight times and during these meetings they discussed all the important issues, including the final status issues.
“During these meetings, I stressed our commitment to Road Map Peace plan, the Arab Initiative and President Bush Vision of two-state solution as well as his call to implement the Road Map,†said President Abbas.
Abbas said the negotiations with the Israelis were genuine, but Israel brought about the talks failure as it stuck to its positions. President said that this Peace conference can be a chance for making peace with Israel, stressing that this chance should be seized, urging the Arabs for a united stance in this conference.
