Al-Farra: Agricultural Loses Exceeded US $ 56 millions since Intifada
GAZA, November 7, 2007, (WAFA)- Khan Younis city governor Dr. Usama al-Farra declared Wednesday that the direct agricultural loses mounted to US $ 56 millions since the beginning of the Intifada.
Al-Farra said in a press release that “the said number was due to the Israeli practices; razing cultivated lands and green houses. The land space which was bulldozed mounts to 1348 dunums as follows: the Olive, Palm, Almonds and Citrus trees 5360 dunums, the Grape and other fruits 1265 dunums and the crops and other fruits 3654 dunumsâ€.
In the agricultural report release , al-Farra added that “the agricultural sector has been subjected and wildly to major loses as the closure of the crossings, thus the suffer of the farmers increased mostly in Khan Younis governorate after the Israeli deliberate policy of bulldozing and razing lands with their cropsâ€.
In conclusion, al-Farra called on the international community to hastily intervene so as to halt the Israeli daily aggression practiced against the Palestinian farmers.
