Fayad: PNA Ready to Control Gaza Strip Crossings



GAZA, November 5, 2007, (WAFA)- Palestinian premier Dr. Salam Fayad declared Sunday that the Palestinian National Authority(PNA) is fully ready to control Gaza Strip crossings so as to end the outer siege imposed and affirmed the necessity of the crossings to be reopened.

In his meeting with the international Quartet convoy Mr. Tony Blair in Ramallah city of the West Bank, Fayad as well decried the latest Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip and called on the international community to play a major role in ending the Palestinian current dilemma.

Fayad briefed Blair about the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) mostly the deteriorating economic conditions due to the siege imposed allover the OPT.

He as well brief Blair about the Palestinian measures and preparations for the awaiting Donors’ Conference which is to be held In Paris in December. The preparations include the plan the Palestinian current government intend to adopt for 2008 till 2010 which implies development plans, reviving the economic situation and rebuilding the national institutions.

Fayad called on the international community to resume aiding the PNA financially.
