PPS: Patient Prisoners Suffer from Chronic and Difficult Diseases in Israeli Jails
HEBRON, November 2, 2007 (WAFA)- - Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) revealed that at least 1000 Palestinian patient prisoners (males and females), in Israeli jails, suffer from chronic and difficult diseases.
In its report issued, in Hebron, PPS said that the health condition of the patient prisoners has been deteriorating because of the carelessness of the Israeli jailers and administrations of prisons.
PPS said that the Israeli carelessness and deliberate medical negligence are war crime and an execution.
The report asserted that such systematic policy violates the international law, especially the 4th Geneva Convention.
PPS report revealed that 6 prisoners died in prisons since 2000, asserting that 250 prisoners are disabled because of their wounds during their arrest.
While 25 of the disabled suffer partial paralysis, 45 suffer psychological disorder as a result of the torture during interrogation, according to PPS report.
The report highlighted that 15 prisoners suffer cancer diseases living in unendurable circumstances.
The PPS called on the ICRC and the international HR Organisations to intervene for rescuing on the life of the patient prisoners and to provide them with medical services.
