President: We Rejects a State with Provisional Borders
RAMALLAH, August 28, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas asserted on the possibility of the existence of Palestinian- Israeli secret meetings.
In an interview with Palestine TV President said that may be there are secret meetings that could be developed in the near future into secret negotiations.
He added that there would not be any secret agreement.
President asserted that any agreement between negotiators should be confirmed by the Palestinian leaderships and the Palestinian people, either through a public referendum of through the Palestinian National Council.
President reiterated his strong rejection of the suggestion of a Palestinian state with temporary borders.
Regarding the international conference for peace president said that the Palestinian leadership has three main questions on the conference; when? The concept of the conference? and who would attend it?
He mentioned that he talked yesterday, via phonecall, with US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, and she has no answers on the Palestinian questions.
As for who would attend, President asserted that the conference should be attended by the parts who are concerned in the implementation of the Road Map and the Arab Initiative for peace.
Regarding the concept, he said that the PLO would not accept a "declaration of principles" as it could lead to wasting time. He added that the PLO would accept a framework that would clarify how to solve the final status issues; the refugees, water, borders, colonies and Jerusalem.
