RAMALLAH, August 26, 2007 (WAFA)Director of the Center for Prisoners Studies, Raafat Hamdona warned on Sunday of continued Israeli casualness against the lives of the prisoners inside the Israeli jails.

In a statement, Hamdona deplored the outgrowth of the situation by contempt and increasing numbers of prisoners serving sentences in prisons, calling for a serious and genuine pressure on the Israeli prison authority.

The statement pointed to the existence of more than 160 prisoners who suffer from chronic diseases and serious need of urgent surgical operations, accusing the occupation and prison administrations of claiming the lives of dozens of prisoners through medical neglect and procrastination to provide care for prisoners patients.

The Center called for paying a visit to prisoners and allowing medical personnel to carry out urgent surgical operations for those who are in need of them, for lack of medical specialists.
