President Discuses with American Senator Peace Process,<br>President Bush's Vision Implementation


RAMALLAH, June 3, 2007, (WAFA)-President Mahmoud Abbas Received Sunday in the Presidential HQ in Ramallah, a member of the American Senate, Senator Joseph Lieberman.

Head of the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department, Dr. Saeb Erikat described the meeting as positive, pointing out that the meeting touched on the efforts with the Israeli side to revive the peace process and implement President Bush's vision of establishing two states.

Dr. Erekat affirmed that President Abbas demanded the American Congress' assistance in securing the release of Palestinian funds withheld by the Israeli side, pointing out that the Minister of Finance. Salam Fayyad, participated in the meeting and briefed the guests a detailed explanation about the tragic situation in the Palestinian territories because of the embargo and restrictions on bank transfers to the Palestinian National Authority.

The meeting also touched on the Wall , colonies , Israeli checkpoints and the continuous Israeli incursions of the Palestinian territory.

For his part, Lieberman said that the situation in the region as a whole is serious and disturbing. He expressed his hope that the calm and security replace violence. Mr. Lieberman promised to convey the image of the difficult Palestinian situation to the American Congress and that is to support the Palestinian people for a better future of the peace process.
