ISESCO Condemns Israeli Arrest of Education Minister
RABAT, 29 May 2007, (WAFA) - The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) denounced the detention of Dr. Nasser Eddine Al-Shaer, Minister of Education in the Palestinian government, by the Israeli occupation forces.
In a communiqué issued Tuesday, ISESCO called for the immediate and unconditional release of the Palestinian minister, underscoring that the arrest of a member in the Palestinian government is an illustration of Israel's infringement of international laws, breach of all diplomatic norms and violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and sovereignty represented in the government of national unity.
ISESCO also strongly condemned the Israeli gross violations of international legality committed in the Palestinian territories, in blatant defiance of the international public opinion.
Referring to Israeli latest aggression, ISESCO condemned the Israeli aggression on Palestinians, causing havoc to educational, economic, social, health and other basic facilities across the Palestinian territories and imposing a complete blockade on its people. Israel has made of Palestinian citizens, especially in Gaza Strip, virtual prisoners in their own homeland.
In the same vein, ISESCO made an appeal to all world countries as well as international organizations to immediately prevail upon Israel to stop its hostile attacks against the Palestinian people.
