UN Official Concerned over Israeli Practices in OPT
CAIRO, May 28, 2007, (WAFA) -Coordinator of the United Nations Secretary General for the Middle East Peace Process, Michael Williams, voiced on Monday concern over the recent Israeli practices that led to the arrest of members of the Palestinian government and the killing of citizens in Gaza Strip.
The UN sent several messages to Israel expressing deep concern over the practices and the Israeli plans to build new settlements in the Palestinian territories, Williams told reporters after his meeting with Arab League Secretary General Amr Mousa in Cairo.
Williams voiced hope for meeting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas soon to prepare for reviving the peace process in the region.
