President Adresses Word Economic Forum: The Atmosphere Conducive for sumption of Peace Process
DAVOS, January 25, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday, in Davos, that the atmosphere is very conducive for resuming the peace process which should lead to establishing the Palestinian state on the Palestinian territoriy occupied by Israel in 1967.
Addressing the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, President asserted that the peace process should lead to find a just solution for the cause of the Palestinian refugees based on the UN resolution 194.
President affirmed that the time of gathering efforts for realising peace in the Holy Land has come and to launch serious negotiations.
Abbas said that the agreement on legitimacy based on principle of land for peace would "enable us to se the glow in the end of the tunnel."
"We have the Road Map, that includes the Arab Peace Initiative as well as President Bush's vision regarding the two-state solution," Abbas said. "What is required now, in all honesty, is for us to trace the beginning and the end of this peace process."
He highlighted that the experience of the partial agreements and unilateral procedures lead to a tunnel with unknown end.
Mentioning to ending the occupation, President said that erasing the causes of anxious would play main role for a better life for the peoples and reinforce the peace and moderates camp against the extremist powers.
Regarding forming new government, President asserted that the political programme of any coming government should abide by the signed agreements, adding that if the Palestinians could not form such government they would go to early elections.
Earlier, President met with Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, with, Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Professor Klaus Schwab, King Abdullah II of Jordan and the former President of Iran, Mohammed Khatami.
