JERUSALEM, Sunday, June 07, 2020 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs said in a report today that in May alone, Israeli occupation authorities banned the Muslim call for prayer at the Ibrahim Mosque in Hebron 54 times under the pretext that the call was annoying to Israeli settlers.
In addition, said the report, Israeli “Defense” Minister Naftali Bennet approved the construction of a settler-only road in the city which will allow only Jewish settlers to perform regular tours to the site.
Israeli authorities also intensified their closure measures banning dozens of worshipers access to the site for prayers, the report added. Regular maintenance works were also banned during the same month.
Israeli forces have at times imposed strict restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshippers to the holy site, such as forcing them into going through electronic metal detectors and military checkpoints on the way to the mosque.
