Prisoners' Affairs Commission says denial of Tawjihi exams to 65 detainees violates right to education

RAMALLAH, June 20, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said on Saturday that preventing 65 students imprisoned by the Israeli occupation from sitting for the General Secondary Education Examination (Tawjihi) constitutes a violation of their right to education.

In a statement, the commission called on international institutions and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities and work to protect the rights of Palestinian prisoners.

It urged relevant bodies to ensure that detained students are able to continue their education and complete their academic studies in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
