RAMALLAH, Friday, March 20, 2020 (WAFA) – A polar air mass is set to affect the region on Friday, paving the way to partially cloudy to cloudy and very cold conditions and causing temperature to plummet, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Scattered torrential rainfall with thunderstorms and occasional hail are expected on several districts. Snow flurries are expected over mountains at an altitude of +1000 meters above sea level in nighttime. Active southwesterly to westerly wind blows with occasional gusts. Sea waves are high.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 8°C and a low of 3°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 7°C and a low of 2°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 8°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Saturday’s temperature is set to remain about 8°C below the seasonal average with partially cloudy to cloudy and very cold conditions. Scattered torrential rainfall with thunderstorms and occasional hail are still expected, with the rainfall waning towards night.
Snow flurries are still expected over mountains at an altitude of +1000 meters above sea level before noon.
Sunday’s temperature is set to significantly rise, paving the way to partially cloudy and relatively cold conditions in mountainous districts and mild conditions in the Jordan Valley.
A further significant rise is expected in temperature on Monday, paving the way to partially cloudy to clear and mild conditions.
PMD warns people against floods in flood-prone areas, gusty wind, low horizontal visibility and slippery roads.
