RAMALLAH, Thursday, October 03, 2019 (WAFA) – An Israeli military court sentenced today Rawan Abdullah Samhan, a mother of four children the youngest is eight months old, to 18 months in prison and soldiers rounded up 12 Palestinians from various areas in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS),
It said in a statement that Samhan, from the town of Dahrieh in the south of the West Bank, was first detained in 2014 during a visit to her brother who is serving a 19-year sentence in prison for resisting the occupation. She was allegedly found in possession of a sharp object.
Samhan was held for 12 days before she was released after paying a fine of 20,000 Israeli shekels (app. $5,700), while her trial continued for five years until she was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers detained early this morning 12 Palestinians during raids at their homes in the West Bank, said the PPS.
It said four people were detained from Ramallah area villages, mainly Kobar, two from Qalqilya, district, two from Hebron district, two from Bethlehem area, one from Jenin district and one from Nablus.
