Minister of health in a letter to Red Cross: We demand a Palestinian medical team be allowed to visit prisoner Samir Arbid

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 01, 2019 (WAFA) – Minster of health, Mai Alkaila, demanded the international Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to pressure the Israeli occupation to allow a Palestinian medial team to visit prisoner Samir Arbid in Hadassah hospital in Israel to check on his health condition.

Arbid was rushed to hospital in Israel after suffering a serious health deterioration due to torture and ill-treatment during interrogations.

The minister pointed out in a letter she handed to David Quesne, the head of the ICRC Mission in occupied Jerusalem, that Arbid, who was detained by Israeli forces on September 25 while heading home with his wife, was subjected to severe torture and beatings during his arrest and interrogations, which caused him Pulmonary hemorrhage, several broken ribs and marks all over his body, and a severe kidney failure.

She pointed out that the occupying power, Israel, has violated the Fourth Geneva Convention and all international human rights treaties and conventions, calling on the ICRC to work diligently to save the life of Arabid and other sick prisoners.
