RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 29, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the quelling by Israeli occupation forces of a nonviolent sit-in yesterday, which was organized in protest of Israel’s plans to annex the Jordan Valley.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said several Palestinian and international activists holding a sit-in at a location on the shore of the northern Dead Sea were assaulted and removed by force by Israeli soldiers.
On a different subject, al-Ayyam said Socialist International condemned statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he declared his intention to annex the occupied Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea.
Al-Quds said Israeli occupation authorities declared a full closure of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip from September 29 to October 1 on the occasion of the Jewish holidays.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the US House of Representatives is likely to start an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump this weak, which may result in his ouster.
Al-Quds said the UNRWA received significant financial pledges on the sideline on the UN General Assembly’s recent session in New York.
Al-Ayyam said the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) has warned that the ongoing financial crisis affecting the Palestinian Authority, as a result of Israel’s withholding of the Palestinian tax revenue, will have serious repercussions on the overall Palestinian economy.
