RAMALLAH, Friday, September 06, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Friday issue on the announced resignation of Jason Greenblatt, US President Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East and a key figure in the administration’s work on an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.
The White House announced on Thursday that Greenblatt will leave his post in the coming weeks, after working on the Middle East issue for over two years.
On a different subject, Al-Quds quoted Nabil Abu Rudainah, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, as saying that “the Palestinian people and leadership are steadfast and are adhering to their homeland”.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the UN, Abdullah Bin Yahya Al-Mualimi, reiterated his country’s support to the Palestinian people until it achieves its just rights.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli army armored vehicles infiltrated into the northern border of the Gaza Strip near the town of Beit Lahiya before pulling back to the Israeli border.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said dozens of activists took part in a protest in Ramallah, central West Bank, in support of hunger striking Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.
Al-Quds said Israeli forces suppressed a rally in the old city of Jerusalem organized by women activists against gender-based violence.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Al-Quds said Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi underscored the firm Egyptian support for the Palestinian people and its just cause.
