Premier slams Israel’s move to bar US lawmakers entry to West Bank

RAMALLAH, Friday, August 16, 2019 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh slammed Israel’s move to bar US congresswomen Rasihda Tlaib and Ilhan Omar entry ahead of a planned visit to the occupied West Bank.

Shtayyeh tweeted that the decision by Israel to bar US congresswomen Tlaib and Ilhan from entering the occupied Palestinian territories “implies fear of exposing the Israeli occupation’s oppression against the Palestinian people to the US and international public.”

“Israel fights everyone who opposes its approach of maintaining the occupation, and attempts to muzzle voices calling for peace and realizing the rights of the Palestinian people,” he added.

Israel’s decision to bar Tlaib and her fellow congresswoman Omar affirms that “democracy and racism are incompatible.”
