Erekat: Britain voting against a UNHRC resolution on Palestine a gift to Israeli settlers

RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 21, 2019 (WAFA) – The decision by the British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt to vote against a resolution on Palestine at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) tomorrow is a gift for the Israeli settlers and government, said Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

Hunt wrote in an op-ed piece in the Jewish Chronical that he is going to vote against all Item 7 in the UNHRC resolution no Palestine.

“Announcement made by UK’s Jeremy Hunt regarding Britain’s opposition to the resolutions on Palestine to be voted tomorrow in HRC40 is a gift for Israeli settlers and the Israeli government,” wrote Erekat in a tweet. “The British government has consistently opposed ANY concrete step against the occupation.”

Erekat added: “By doing so the British Government continues to strengthen Israel’s culture of impunity which is reflected on daily crimes and violations against international law, the land and the people of Palestine.”
