Following an attack in north of West Bank, Israeli army cordons off area

 

SALFIT, Sunday, March 17, 2019 (WAFA) – An apparent stabbing and shooting attack near the illegal Israeli settlement of Ariel in the north of the West Bank prompted the Israeli army to cordon off the area and carry out a large manhunt for the perpetrator, according to reports.

Israeli reports said two soldiers were killed and two others were seriously wounded when a person believed to be Palestinian have stabbed a soldier, took his gun and used it to shoot other soldiers.

They said the attacker was able to get away and therefore a manhunt was underway.

Reports from the area said soldiers raided the village of Brouqin, west of Salfit near where the attack took place, and blocked roads leading to several other villages in the area.

Palestinian residents in the area said the situation was very tense.

The army has also closed roads leading the northern cities of Qalqilya and Nablus.
