RAMALLAH, Sunday, February 10, 2019 (WAFA) – News about the funeral processions of the two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza hit the front pages of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Sunday.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that hundreds of Palestinians took part in the funerals of Hamza Shtewi, 18, and Hasan Shalabi, 14, who were shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Friday during the Gaza March of Return border protests and were laid to rest on Saturday in Gaza City and Khan Younis respectively.
Fatah Revolutionary Council’s 5th session, which was held in the city of Ramallah, was also reported in the dailies. They said that the Council stressed that Fatah is still committed to the leadership of the national project.
The dailies also said that President Mahmoud Abbas arrived on Saturday evening in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, where he is scheduled to attend the 32nd African summit.
They said that the President is expected to deliver a speech during the summit as well as meet African leaders and officials on the sideline.
A statement by Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was reported in the dailies in which he said during his participation in the Arab Parliament conference in Cairo that normalization with Israeli is a stab in the back.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said that the caretaker government of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said that the Palestinian leadership will continue to mobilize support to solve the refugees’ case and end their suffering.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that an Israeli report stated that Saudi Arabia no longer backs US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and normalization with Israel.
