President Abbas arrives in Addis Ababa for African Union Summit

 

ADDIS ABABA, Saturday, February 9, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas arrived on Saturday evening in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, where is scheduled to attend the 32nd African Union Summit.

The President is expected to deliver a speech during the summit as well as meet African leaders and officials on the sideline.

This year‘s African Union Summit takes place on February 10-11 at the AU headquarters under the theme “The Year of Refugees, Returnees, and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa”.

The summit will focus on the latest developments in the major conflict areas in Africa, as well as efforts to resolve these conflicts and strengthen the frameworks of preventive diplomacy on the continent.

The Summit will also discuss a number of sustainable development issues within the framework of the African Development Agenda 2063, as well as topics related to health, education, innovation and technology resettlement.
