JERUSALEM, July 28, 2018 (WAFA) – United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov called on Israel in a tweet on Saturday to stop killing Palestinian children in Gaza.
Mladenov’s reaction came after Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian boy at the Gaza border on Friday during the weekly March of Return protests.
“Yesterday’s killing of a 12 year old Palestinian boy by Israeli fire in Gaza is shocking and tragic,” he wrote. “Children are #NotATarget! Too many lives have been lost. It’s time for this to stop. My heartfelt thought and prayers go out to the bereaved family.”
In addition to the boy, the Israel army killed on Friday a 17-year-old teenager and 43-year-old Ghazi Abu Mustafa, whose wife, a medic, was treating the wounded when she learnt of this death.
Israel killed a total of 155 Palestinians at the Gaza border since the start of the March of Return protests on March 30, among them 20 children, and injured over 17,000 others.
