RAMALLAH, August 17, 2017 (WAFA) – The demolition of the family home of a Palestinian assailant in the Ramallah-district village of Kobar hit the front page headlines in Palestinian Arabic dailies on Thursday.

The dailies said Israeli forces demolished the family home of Omar al-Abed during an overnight raid into Kobar.

Al-Abed, 19, is currently held in Israeli prison after breaking into the illegal Israeli settlement of Halamish where he stabbed and killed three Israeli settlers on July 21. He was shot and injured and subsequently detained.

Al-Quds said Israeli forces shot and injured 26 Palestinians during multiple raids into a number of West Bank districts.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said forces shot and wounded a total of 30 Palestinians across West Bank raids, including Palestine TV photojournalist Muhammad Radi.

Al-Quds added Israeli forces ransacked a number of homes and seized the sum of 117,000 Israeli shekels (approximately $33,000) during raids into Hebron in the southern West Bank.

Al-Ayyam said a total of 72 Palestinians have been detained since the July 14 Israeli restrictive measures at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem that heightened tension in the holy city.

It added Israeli troops shot and injured two Palestinian young men and sealed a bookstore and a shop during West Bank raids.

It also reported Israeli police delivered demolition notices for Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan and undercover Israeli soldiers grabbed a Palestinian youth from Shufat refugee camp in East Jerusalem.

Highlighting other violations, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli settlers installed caravans near the fence separating Beitar Illit settlement from the nearby village of Nahalin, west of Bethlehem.

They said Israeli forces demolished two coal production facilities outside Yaabad town, west of Jenin.

Al-Ayyam added Israeli occupation authorities expropriated over 47 dunums (12 acres) of Palestinian land, near Dhahiriya, south of Hebron.

The dailies highlighted the meeting between representatives of Islamic Endowment (Waqf) Department and Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Amman.

Abdullah was reported in al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida, which made this story their main front page article, stating that the issue of Jerusalem is not security but rather political.

He was also reported in the dailies pledging to continue efforts to defend Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and confront any attempt to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque on any grounds or reasons.

The dailies reported the Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs has submitted an urgent petition to the Israeli Supreme Court requesting that the Israeli occupation authorities do not handle in any in appropriate way the corpses of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers before September 13.

Al-Quds spotlighted a report issued by the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Negotiations Affairs Department and titled Fragmentation of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and its isolation from the rest of occupied East Jerusalem.

Al-Quds reported Chairman of the Arab Palestinian Investment Company (APIC) Tareq Aqqad announcing APIC has earned net profits of US $7.9 million in the first half of 2017.

It also reported head of Hamas political bureau Yahya Sinwar stating “Separating Gaza from the West Bank is suicide” and describing the dissolution of the administrative committee in charge of running Gaza affairs as a piece of cake.

It also reported Hamas senior official Ahmad Yousef demanding the immediate dissolution of the administrative committee.

It added a suicide bomber blew himself up at a security patrol at the border between besieged Gaza Strip and Egypt.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) denying media reports it has facilitated the emigration of Palestinian refugees from Lebanon.
