Israeli police raids seven homes in Jerusalem, confiscates $27,900

JERUSALEM, August 15, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli police Tuesday raided seven homes in the occupied East Jerusalem and confiscated over 100,000 shekels and a vehicle, based on allegations that its Hamas funds.

Israeli police claimed the targeted families receive money from Hamas in the Gaza Strip and that the raids were conducted with the Israeli Security Agency, the Shin Bet following instructions of Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Police raided seven homes in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, where a member of the family carried out an operation against Israeli forces.

The police said the money was confiscated because Hamas “supports terrorism and carrying out operations against Israel.” It claimed the money is to support the families of those members involved in acts against Israel.

The house of Tareq Abu Arafeh, who took part in the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier in 1994, was also raided under the pretext that his mother receives money from Hamas.
