RAMALLAH, August 1, 2017 (WAFA) – News about Israeli settlers‘ provocative march and breaking into al-Aqsa mosque hit the headlines of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Monday.
Al-Quds, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israeli settlers broke into al-Aqsa mosque in the old city of Jerusalem, and held provocative tours in its vicinities and entrances in anniversary of the Jewish fast day which refers to the destruction of the First and Second Temple.
According to the newspapers, Israeli settlers Sunday installed caravans on a land just outside the illegal Shevot Rahil settlement, near the village of Jaloud to the south of Nablus in the West Bank.
They said Israeli police detained dozens of Palestinians in Jerusalem after carrying out raids in several Arab neighborhoods in the city.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said President Mahmoud Abbas met with a delegation of the US Ramallah Federation in the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah.
Abbas said that Palestinians living abroad have a big and important role in supporting the Palestinian struggle.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that the family of the Israeli Embassy security guard, who killed two Jordanians, left its home in fear of safety and acts of revenge.
Palestinian diplomat Nasser al-Qudwa said in a statement that Abbas is adamant to safeguard al-Aqsa mosque and stresses the importance of confronting any attempted changes of the status quo, according to al-Hayat al-Jadida.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israeli deputy defense minister Eli Ben-Dahan said that Israel will work on imposing Israeli sovereignty on Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Another statement by engineer Adnan al-Husseini, Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Jerusalem governor, was reported in al-Ayyam. He said that he rejects new Israeli plans to annex Jewish settlements to Jerusalem and isolate Palestinian neighborhoods in the city.
