JERUSALEM, July 30, 2017 (WAFA) – Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sunday said that the technical committee formed to inspect the condition of Al-Aqsa Mosque after a two-week strike will begin its duties today.
The committee, which was formed to determine whether Israeli police and settlers have attempted to modify, take or manipulate the components of the holy site, will submit its findings as soon as the inspection is complete.
He said, “We hope to arrive at positive results as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, Firas Dibs, public relations officer of the Islamic Waqf said hundreds of Palestinians protested at Bab al-Matharah Sunday at dawn to demand the immediate reopening of the gate, which has been closed for over two weeks now.
He said after several phone calls to solve the issue, the gate was reopened for Palestinian worshippers, while extreme Israeli settlers continued to call for more provocative visits to the holy compound.
