JERUSALEM, July 29, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli police held random manual inspection of Palestinians entering Al-Aqsa Mosque on Saturday, according to WAFA correspondent.
He said police stopped some people entering the Muslim holy compound and inspected them using manual metal detecting machines, as well as checking bags and purses of men and women.
Israel’s installation of metal detectors outside Al-Aqsa Mosque two weeks ago has triggered wide scale protests by Jerusalem’s Palestinian population forcing Israel to remove them and all other installations it had placed at the gates prompting the Palestinians declared victory over the Israeli measures.
Entry to the mosque returned to normal on Friday afternoon after Israeli police reopened all gates leading to the Muslim compound and allowed free entry for all ages after it restricted entry for the Friday noon prayer to men over 50 years of age.
Meanwhile, A group of Jewish extremists held provocative religious dance and rituals outside Lions’ Gate, one of the main gates that lead to Al-Aqsa Mosque where Muslims have been holding a vigil for the last two week protesting the Israeli measures at the mosque.
Israeli police watched as the extremists danced and prayed outside the walled compound and did not intervene to remove them, while police forced Palestinians outside the gate to leave the area.
