RAMALLAH, July 27, 2017 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas has called for an urgent meeting on Thursday for the Palestinian leadership to discuss the crisis at Al-Aqsa Mosque in light of reports that Israel removed all metal installation it had placed outside and inside the compound gates.
Abbas on Friday froze all contacts with Israel, including security coordination, until Israel removes all its installation and return the situation at the holy place to the way it was on before July 14, when Israel closed the mosque and installed metal detectors rejected by all Palestinians.
The Palestinian leadership is coordinating its steps with the Muslim Waqf in Jerusalem, which is expected to report on the recent developments at the mosque before a final decision is made on whether or not to resume prayers inside the holy compound.
