Israeli military court upholds administrative detention of 17 Palestinians

RAMALLAH, May 31, 2017 (WAFA) – An Israeli military court convening at Ofer prison near Ramallah Wednesday upheld administrative detention orders against 17 Palestinians from across the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.

It said eight Palestinians, mostly from the Ramallah area, received six-month administrative detention, seven received four months sentence and two three months.

Administrative detention is illegal under international law where people are held without charge or trial for long periods of time.

Palestinians and human rights organizations have been demanding an end to this policy.
