Israeli forces detain seven Palestinians, seal supermarket in West Bank raids

JERUSALEM, May 26, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Friday and Thursday night detained at least seven Palestinians and sealed a supermarket during multiple raids across a number of West Bank districts, said security sources.

Israeli police detained five Palestinians during a raid that sparked clashes in Hizma town, east of Jerusalem on Thursday night.

Police fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters, causing many residents to suffocate. The clashes came several hours after police raided and issued fines to business in the town.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained a 16-year-old Palestinian minor after storming his family home in Yaabad town, southwest of Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

They conducted a similar raid into Silwad town, east of Ramallah, in the central West Bank, ransacking a number of homes and detaining at least a Palestinian.

In Bethlehem district, forces sealed a Palestinian supermarket during a raid into Beit Jala town in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.

Forces posted a military order stating Jumbo Supermarket was sealed purportedly for selling fireworks that were eventually used in launching attacks against soldiers.
