RAMALLAH, December 7, 2016 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh Wednesday said the Palestinians have received neither an official invitation to attend the French sponsored international peace conference nor any other meeting.
Abu Rudeineh’s statements came following reports that France has extended an invitation to both President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet in Paris on the sideline of the conference.
Abu Rudeineh said the Palestinian leadership welcomes any French effort to salvage the stalled political process.
He said the Palestinians will deal positively with any invitation it receives, just as they reacted positively with the invitation by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which Abbas had accepted and Netanyahu had rejected.
Palestine Liberation Organization Secretary General Saeb Erekat said on Wednesday that the French-sponsored international peace conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is set to be held in Paris on December 21 with the presence 70 states.
