RAMALLAH, November 23, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces shooting dead of a Palestinian after he allegedly attempted to stab soldiers at the Qalandiya checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies on Wednesday.
Al-Quds said the slain man was from Beit Wazan village in the northern West Bank district of Nablus.
The dailies said the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem resumed demolition of a Palestinian home in the Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Tur.
Al-Ayyam added Israel’s demolition of Palestinian homes in Jerusalem has increased by 40 percent.
They said Israeli settlers torched a Palestinian home in Yatta in the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
The dailies also reported on US President-elect Donald Trump’s wish to be the one to clinch a peace deal between Israel and Palestinians.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Palestinian cabinet has welcomed the upcoming Fatah conference.
They said President Mahmoud Abbas met a delegation of Jews from Iraqi origins and the chairman of the FIFA Oversight Committee.
Al-Ayyam said an Israeli court extended the solitary confinement of the imprisoned leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel Sheikh Raed Salah.
It said UNRWA employees announced a general strike on Wednesday in the organization’s main offices in northern Gaza, protesting the administration’s failure to meet their demands regarding wages and unfilled job vacancies.
