RAMALLAH, November 19, 2016 (WAFA) –Israel currently has in detention 350 Palestinian minors, including 12 girls, and some of them were given prison sentences, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said on Saturday marking the United Nations Universal Children’s Day that coincides on Sunday.
It said Israel enacted this year a number of what the PPS has described as “racist laws” that allowed courts to pass high prison terms exceeding 10 years and even life against Palestinian children.
In addition, added the PPS, Israel has increased its violations against children rights, including shooting live bullets directly at them, severe conditions of detention, holding them without food or drink, beating, cursing, terrorizing and forcing them to sign confessions under duress.
It said international rights groups, mainly UNICEF, should do more to protect Palestinian children.
