Newspaper Review: Tel Aviv Fatal Shooting Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, June 9, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Thursday issue on a fatal shooting in Tel Aviv which left four Israelis killed and five others injured.

They said four Israelis were killed and several more wounded after two Palestinian gunmen opened fire in a shopping and restaurant area in central Tel Aviv on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, al-Ayyam said the Israeli government dismissed Russian reports that Israel had accepted to Arab Peace Initiative without any amendments.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who said Moscow sees no need to amend the Arab Peace Initiative on settling the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Egyprian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that there is no contradiction between the French Peace Initiative and the Egyptian one.

Al-Quds said thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral of Palestinian youth Jamal Dwekat, who died on Tuesday evening of wounds he had sustained during clashes with Israeli forces in Nablus on Friday.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel proposed removing “a few thousand Arabs” from Area C of the West Bank –– the 60% of the territory fully controlled by Israel — and then annexing it.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli authorities decided that Palestinians from Jerusalem killed by Israeli troops are no longer allowed to be buried in their area of residence.

Al-Ayyam said a group of Israeli extremists entered, in a provocative visit, the al-Aqsa Mosque Compound in Jerusalem.
