NEW YORK, July 2, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations reiterated its warning regarding the worsening humanitarian conditions critical to the survival of Palestinians, highlighting that the Gaza Strip is facing severe shortages in livelihood opportunities and shelter availability due to ongoing attacks by the Israeli occupation forces.
This came in a statement published by the UN on its official website, which monitored several Israeli violations against civilians in the Gaza Strip since Sunday.
The statement highlighted that numerous families who had fled schools struck by occupation shelling recently have now returned to northern Gaza, primarily because of the scarcity of alternative livelihood options and limited shelter availability in other areas.
The statement further indicated that five school buildings sheltering displaced families in northern Gaza were shelled within the last 48 hours, resulting in casualties and injuries.
The Israeli army has repeatedly issued immediate forced evacuation orders across multiple areas of the Gaza Strip, compelling residents to abandon their homes ahead of anticipated bombings. These evacuation warnings are typically followed within moments by Israeli shelling of the targeted areas, frequently commencing before residents have been able to evacuate.
In recent months, the occupation authorities have issued dozens of similar evacuation warnings, reducing the area available for residents in the Gaza Strip to less than 18 percent, according to UN reports.
In this context, the statement cited UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, who noted that Israeli operations in Gaza have intensified since the latest displacement order was issued last Sunday, resulting in the displacement of at least 1,500 families from northern Gaza and the eastern part of Gaza Governorate.
Dujarric warned that the reduction of humanitarian aid and basic services is increasingly depriving Gaza’s population of essential means for survival.
He stressed that the current situation in the Strip is alarming and requires urgent action to ensure the opening of all crossings and facilitate humanitarian operations, including the effective flow of life-saving supplies.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned on Tuesday that additional life-saving facilities in Gaza may soon be forced to close.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the World Food Programme (WFP) warned that the opportunity to combat hunger in Gaza is rapidly diminishing.
