Dozens of Palestinians Injured during Clashes across Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, October 6, 2015 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians late Monday were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets and scores others suffocated during clashes with Israeli forces across Jerusalem, said medical sources.

Clashes erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinians near the Israeli military checkpoint at Shu‘fat refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, with forces firing tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets toward locals.

A Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic Amin Abu Ghazaleh told WAFA that a total of 30 Palestinian young men were injured with rubber-coated bullets and suffocated after inhaling tear gas.

He added that three young men were taken to a Ramallah hospital, where medics described their condition as moderate to serious.

Similar clashes erupted in Shu‘fat town, north of the city, where eight young men were hit and injured with rubber-coated steel bullets.

PRC paramedics, who rushed into the scene to treat injuries, were obstructed and an ambulance was stopped and searched before being released by Israeli forces.

Furthermore, a young man was shot and injured with live ammunition in the leg during clashes that broke out in al-‘Issawiya village, northeast of the city.

Besides, WAFA correspondent reported that a Palestinian young man had his eye removed following a surgery in Hadassah Ein Karem hospital.

Mohammad Burqan, 18, had his eye excised after being hit with in his eye by Israeli forces during clashes in the Jerusalem’s neighborhood of Ath-Thuri Monday evening.

Meanwhile, scores of other Palestinians suffocated after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli forces during clashes in Biddu, Beit Ijza, Beit Duqqu, a cluster of villages to the northwest of the city.

A Palestinian young man was reportedly detained during clashes in Beit Duqqu.

Furthermore, a Palestinian young man was shot with live ammunition in the chest during clashes in the Beit Hanina’s neighborhood of al-Ashqariya, north of the city, on Monday evening.

The man, whose identity remains unknown, was rushed into al-Makassed hospital, suffering from internal bleeding. His condition was described as serious.

Israeli forces reportedly targeted private Palestinian vehicles that rushed into the scene of clashes to evacuate injuries.

The vehicles sustained damages after being targeted with a barrage of tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets.
