Jordan says Duma Crime Result of Israel’s Renouncing of Peace

AMMAN, July 31, 2015 (WAFA) – The kingdom of Jordan Friday condemned the heinous murder committed by Israeli settlers at dawn in Duma village, south of Nablus, which resulted in the burning to death of 18-month-old Ali Saeed Dawabsha and the serious injury of his 4-year-old brother, Ahmad.

Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Al Momani said in a press statement this crime is a result of the Israeli governments denial of Palestinians’ rights and turning its back on fulfilling peace and security in the region.

Al-Momani said Israel, as the occupying power, is fully responsible for this crime and all violations against the Palestinian people, noting that the Israeli government’s priority is settlements’ expansion and denying Palestinians’ their basic rights.

Palestinian officials said a group of people, most likely Israeli settlers from nearby illegal settlements, broke into the village of Duma at dawn and attacked the nearest two homes to the village’s entrance. Highly flammable firebombs were used to set the homes on fire. One house was severely burnt while the other was partially destroyed; the attackers also spray-painted racist graffiti on the walls of the burnt homes.

The Palestinian leadership announced it would prepare a file on the crime against the Palestinian family in Duma and present it to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.
