JERUSALEM, July 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday delivered a demolition order against a residential building in the Al-Sawwana neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem. The building is home to 17 Palestinian families.
Israeli forces raided the vicinity of the building and delivered a final demolition order to its residents, granting them until this Saturday, July 26, to leave. The demolition would forcibly displace 17 families, leaving around 100 individuals without shelter.
The building, constructed in 1998, has faced a demolition threat since 2003 under the pretext of lacking an Israeli-issued permit. Over the years, residents have paid hefty fines to the Israeli municipality.
Among the families living in the building is the family of Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and head of the Higher Islamic Council.
