RAMALLAH, July 23, 2025 (WAFA) - Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, said the Israeli Knesset's demand for the Israeli government to impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank represents not only a direct assault on the rights of the Palestinian people but also a dangerous escalation that undermines the prospects for peace, stability, and the two-state solution based on negotiation, which enforces and protects regional security.
“These unilateral Israeli actions blatantly violate international law and the ongoing international consensus regarding the status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank,” said the Vice President in a post on X.
He said the international community must uphold international legitimacy and its resolutions, and exert efforts to stop these violations and prevent the consolidation of the occupation as a reality by force. He also called on countries around the world to recognize the State of Palestine and to condemn and denounce this decision.
