RAMALLAH, July 30, 2015 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian
Arabic dailies focused in their Thursday issue on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu's approval of the construction of 300 housing units in the
illegal settlement Beit El and another 500 units in East Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the United
Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned the Israeli decision.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said Netanyahu’s
decision was also denounced by presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudainah,
who said such a decision would hinder international efforts made to solve
the current political deadlock.
Al-Ayyam said Abu Rudainah argued that the current peace
impasse would continue until next September.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas
warned that continuing settlement activity in the West Bank hinders international
efforts to salvage the peace process.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israeli authorities demolished a
wedding hall and other commercial structures in Jerusalem’s Beit Hanina
neighborhood, under the pretext of construction without permission.
The dailies also highlighted Amnesty
International’s Wednesday report which revealed decisive evidence that Israel
committed relentless massacres amounting to war crimes during what was called
‘Black Friday’ of August 1, 2014. The massacres in Rafah, said
Amnesty, continued until August 4, 2014.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said Prime Minister Rami
Hamdallah praised the “steadfastness” of the people of Sussia, a Palestinian
village south of Hebron which is slated for demolition by Israeli authorities.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli jet fighters on
Wednesday launched airstrikes on multiple locations in Syria belonging
to the Lebanese Hezbollah party as well as the Popular Front for the Liberation
of Palestine – General Command (PFLPGC).
Al-Hayat said at least six people were injured in the Israeli
attacks on PFPLGC sites in Syria on Wednesday.
Al-Ayyam quoted an Israeli media source saying Jordan
thwarted an attack against the Israeli embassy in Amman on
Wednesday.
