GAZA, January 6, 2015 (WAFA) – Israel Tuesday allowed
reconstruction material to enter the Gaza Strip through Karam Abu Salem border
crossing.
Director of the border crossing Munir al-Ghalban said that
reconstruction materials were allowed entry into Gaza by the Israeli
authorities in accordance with the mechanism the United Nations devised in
agreement by both Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Al-Ghalban said 33 truckloads of cement and 24 truckloads
of gravel entered the besieged coastal enclave to be distributed in
coordination with the UN to those whose homes were demolished during the latest
Israeli onslaught on Gaza.
The latest massive Israeli onslaught on the strip has displaced approximately 110,000 Palestinians, leaving them homeless and Israel continues to refuse allowing sufficient amounts of reconstruction materials to enter the strip.
Israel has maintained a blockade on the Gaza Strip
since 2006, crippling the Gaza’s economy.
Arab and world countries pledged $5.4 billion to rebuild
the damage that Israel has caused to the infrastructure of Gaza. Half of the
money will be allocated to the reconstruction of Gaza, while the other half is
allocated to support Palestinians needs.
