JERUSALEM, January 22, 2014 (WAFA) – Dozen of students and
faculty members suffocated Wednesday from inhaling tear gas and others were
injured from rubber-coated metal bullets fired by Israeli soldiers during confrontations
that erupted between students and soldiers at al-Quds University in Abu Dis,
east of Jerusalem, according to local sources.
The clashes broke out after an army unit attempted to fill a hole in the segregation wall near the university campus.
Students confronted the soldiers and clashes broke out during which the soldiers fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the students outside and inside the campus, said activist Hani Halabiya.
He said many were transferred to hospital for medical
treatment while others received first aid on campus. Damage was also caused to
some colleges.
